The convoy of black government SUVs cut through the morning fog of Greenwich, Connecticut.
Iron security gates bearing the brass initials *AR* gave way before the federal task force’s hydraulic ram.
Damon stepped out of the lead vehicle alongside District Attorney Harrison, his trench coat snapping in the chill wind.
Inside the limestone mansion, Arthur Rochefort was seated at his breakfast table in a velvet robe.
Beside him, Elisa Rochefort—freed on bail twelve hours earlier—held an iced glass against her swollen eyes.
When the heavy front doors were breached by federal agents, Elisa dropped the tumbler, shattering crystal against the marble foyer.
"What is the meaning of this intrusion?" Arthur Rochefort demanded, rising from his chair with aristocratic fury.
"Arthur Rochefort, Elisa Rochefort," Harrison announced, displaying the search and arrest warrants. "Federal warrants for racketeering, conspiracy to commit murder, and intentional distribution of counterfeit medical products."
Elisa pointed a trembling finger at Damon.
"This is harassment! You're letting Damon Cross settle a personal vendetta because of an unverified accusation!"
Damon walked slowly past the armed agents until he was standing three feet from Arthur Rochefort.
He reached inside his coat and laid the St. Jude hospital intake log flat on the table, right between the silver coffee pot and the linen napkins.
"Lot B-409, Arthur," Damon said softly.
The older man's eyes fell on the paper, and the arrogant color drained instantly from his face.
"Evelyn kept the cold chain," Damon continued, his voice dropping into a lethal, steady rhythm. "The physical vials were retrieved from broad street vault four-zero-two an hour ago."
"The chain-of-custody signatures carry your private laboratory stamp."
Elisa staggered back against the sideboard, clutching her pearls. "Father... what is he talking about?"
Arthur Rochefort did not answer his daughter.
His gaze remained frozen on the document, his breath catching in his throat as federal marshals moved in with double sets of handcuffs.
"Take them both into federal custody," Harrison ordered.
As the steel cuffs clicked around Arthur's wrists, Damon stepped closer to Elisa.
"You told Maya the food wasn't for her," Damon murmured into the silence.
"You're going to find out what federal prison bread tastes like."
