The rebuilt estate outside Dallas was finally quiet.

The grand nursery had been remodeled completely.

No dark corners.

No locked cabinets.

Large, sunlit bay windows overlooked the green rolling hills of the property.

On the wall, in the same spot where the original camera had hung, sat a small wooden frame.

Inside it was the tiny black memory card that had saved both Noah and me.

A reminder that the truth always records what darkness tries to hide.

Noah was now eighteen months old.

He tore across the nursery floor, laughing as he chased a golden retriever puppy Julian had brought home the week prior.

“Mama! Look!” Noah cheered, proudly holding up a rubber toy.

I smiled, sitting on the sunlit carpet beside him.

“I see it, sweet boy. Good catch.”

Julian walked in, carrying a glass of sweet iced tea.

He was wearing an ordinary cotton shirt and jeans—no tailored three-piece suits, no security radios buzzing on his collar.

He sat down beside me on the rug, stretching his legs out.

Noah immediately ran over and climbed onto Julian’s lap, babbling happily about the puppy.

Julian laughed, wrapping his arms around his son.

He looked over at me, his gaze soft and steady.

“Carter finished the final trust restructuring this afternoon,” Julian said.

“The board signed off without a single objection.”

“Are you sure about this, Julian?” I asked softly.

“I have never been more certain of anything in my life, Rachel.”

He reached out, his warm fingers covering the faint, pale scar near my temple.

“A woman with blood ties tried to destroy him for money.”

“A woman with no obligation bled to keep him alive.”

“There is no one else I would ever trust with his world.”
